As an automotive lighting systems engineer at Rivian, you will be integral to the design, development, and validation of exterior lighting systems for our electric vehicles. This role requires strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving abilities to deliver innovative lighting solutions. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including engineering and suppliers, to ensure seamless integration and compliance of lighting systems. The position emphasizes architecture development and requires effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years of applicable systems engineering experience, preferably in lighting
• Proficiency in requirements management tools such as Flow and Jama
• Experience with engineering modeling tools like Simulink or Enterprise Architect
• Familiarity with automotive data bus logging tools such as Vector Canalyzer, CANoe, and CANape

• Communicate with core stakeholders to identify required User Stories for the system.
• Derive appropriate system level requirements to deliver high-level User Stories.
• Develop detailed mathematical or logical models to describe feature behavior under different vehicle states.
• Maintain lighting system architecture and generate decisions for optimized solutions.
• Design tests to ensure derived requirements and user stories are met.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for lighting system faults and investigate system-level failures.
• Collaborate with Design Release Engineers and Tier 1 suppliers to ensure production designs conform to system architecture.
