The Sr. Physical Design STA Engineer will be responsible for the design and optimization of hardware in AWS data centers, focusing on technologies like AWS Inferentia. This role is part of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team, which aims to deliver high performance at low cost. The engineer will collaborate with other physical design engineers and RTL/Arch teams to ensure a world-class customer experience. The position demands high standards and a commitment to continuous improvement in product performance, quality, and cost.

• Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript
• BS + 8 years or MS + 6 years or PhD + 4 years in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• Expertise in timing analysis fundamentals
• 3+ years of experience in Static Timing Analysis
• 3+ years of experience with timing constraint development
• Experience with EDA tools for Timing Analysis such as PrimeTime or Tempus
• Understanding of ASIC Physical Design from RTL-to-GDSII
• Experience in mentoring, leading, and coaching
• Expertise in ECO flows using tools like PT-DMSA or Tempus-ECO
• Experience in advanced nodes - 16nm or below
• Expertise in parasitic extraction tools such as STAR-RC or Quantus
• Experience with circuit level analysis using tools like SPICE or SPECTRE
• Experience with timing of IO interfaces like DDR, HBM, PCIe, or Die-to-Die

• Develop and maintain flows for block and full-chip level static timing analysis
• Write, debug, and validate timing constraints for blocks and full-chip
• Run Static Timing Analysis and provide frequent feedback to team members and leads
• Provide guidance on fixing timing issues by generating ECOs and fixing constraint issues
• Develop scripts to automate running timing analysis and generating reports
• Collaborate effectively with other physical design engineers and RTL/Arch teams
