Job description
The Rights & Pricing engineering team at Apple is seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of backend pricing systems that support Apple Services. This role focuses on delivering high-quality software through effective test strategies and automation. The ideal candidate will work closely with Engineering and Product teams to enhance product reliability while managing complex systems and integrations. The position emphasizes backend systems, APIs, and integration testing, requiring a balance of exploratory testing and sustainable automation investments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software quality engineering, QA automation, or a closely related software engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in Python or another modern, object-oriented programming language such as Java, Kotlin, or Go.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building automation frameworks and test suites for backend systems and APIs.
- Experience testing REST APIs, service integrations, and distributed system behaviors.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated test execution.
- Ability to debug and diagnose failures across layered systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience validating complex business logic in financial systems or pricing engines.
- Experience with data validation and database testing, including writing SQL queries.
- Familiarity with service-oriented and microservices architectures.
- Experience with cloud and infrastructure environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Proficiency with observability and debugging tooling.
- Experience applying AI-assisted testing tools.
- Familiarity with performance and load testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience developing and maintaining test strategy documentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-adjacent testing contexts.
Responsibilities
- Own feature quality end-to-end from understanding requirements to driving release confidence.
- Build scalable automated coverage for backend systems and APIs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to implement a shift-left, automation-first quality strategy.
- Conduct exploratory testing while investing in sustainable automation.
- Debug issues across services and environments.
- Develop and maintain test strategy documentation, including risk-based test plans and release readiness reports.
