Job description

The Windows Engineer role within the Controls Fleet team at AWS focuses on building and managing large-scale Windows systems to support critical infrastructure services. This position requires collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure high availability and security of IT infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience deploying, managing, and supporting large-scale Windows Server environments with 500+ servers.
  • Expert understanding of Windows tools such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Hyper-V, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or a similar scripting language.
  • 5+ years of experience with virtualization technologies such as Hypervisors, VMware, or Xen.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as HTTP and DNS.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support extensive Windows server environments.
  • Implement and manage enterprise-scale tooling for a large Windows fleet.
  • Develop and implement best practices for automating tasks and scripting in large server environments.
  • Utilize creativity and analytical skills to solve complex problems and implement innovative solutions.
  • Quickly adjust to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues with hands-on experience in system building.
  • Create scripts and automation tasks applicable to a global server fleet.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation that supports global customers.
