Job description

The Senior AI Frameworks Engineer role at NVIDIA focuses on enhancing the CUTLASS project, which aims to bridge low-level hardware primitives with high-level developer productivity in GPU programming. The team is dedicated to creating a Pythonic version of CUTLASS that offers high-performance abstractions for developers. This position requires expertise in systems programming and API design to improve the developer experience. Candidates will contribute to the development of robust compilation infrastructure and tools that facilitate kernel writing and usage.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++, specifically regarding the design of Python extensions and foreign function interfaces.
  • Experience in library or framework development, with a focus on creating intuitive APIs for complex technical systems.
  • Deep understanding of the Python ecosystem’s delivery stack, including building, testing, and distributing high-performance compiled extensions.

Responsibilities

  • Use expertise in systems programming and API design to create a world-class developer experience for GPU programming and kernel delivery.
  • Design APIs that prioritize user productivity, providing a native feel for developers accustomed to modern scientific computing and deep learning frameworks.
  • Develop robust compilation infrastructure, including AST transformations and JIT-friendly execution, to lower Pythonic descriptions into high-performance GPU machine code.
  • Optimize developer experience by creating debugging tools, profiler integrations, and validation methodologies that make writing and using kernels easy.
  • Build production-grade delivery infrastructure for the open-source community, managing everything from package distribution to user-facing documentation and testing.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
