Job description

The Software Development Engineer II role at Prime Video focuses on designing and building systems that ensure a flawless streaming experience for millions of customers. The team is dedicated to automating playback experiences across various content types and devices. You will work on high-reliability systems that monitor and detect video and audio defects at scale. This position offers the opportunity to engage with innovative technologies and contribute to the quality of Prime Video's live sports portfolio.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience working on a consumer hardware or software product
  • 1+ years tooling or development work associated with consumer devices

Responsibilities

  • Build intelligent monitoring and detection systems that identify video and audio defects at scale before they reach customers
  • Develop tooling for rapid reproduction of production issues across device, content, and feature permutations
  • Own services end-to-end from architecture and implementation through deployment and operations
  • Work on challenging problems in device emulation, streaming protocol validation, and quality of experience measurement

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
