Job description

The role involves joining the EBS Placement team at AWS, focusing on optimizing the distribution of storage volumes across a vast infrastructure. Engineers will tackle complex challenges related to storage density, I/O performance, and data durability. The team emphasizes collaboration and innovation, working on algorithms that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact millions of customers by solving intricate distributed systems problems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience effectively using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software design and implementation

Responsibilities

  • Design and write code to update the placement decision engine for various reasons.
  • Dive into data to make design decisions or measure the effectiveness of changes.
  • Reason about factors involved in placement decisions, such as AWS infrastructure variability.
  • Debug complex distributed systems issues requiring careful analysis and problem-solving.
  • Review proposals and code from peers and partner teams.
  • Provide consultation to partner teams on product rollout and capacity planning.
