The NPI Engineer role focuses on embedded firmware and software for emerging accelerator software at Google. The position is part of the Accel Platforms and Lab Team, which aims to enhance Google's accelerator roadmap through foundational hardware and low-level software engineering. The engineer will tackle complex challenges related to software and hardware interactions, playing a critical role in the development of new technologies. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with C, C++, operating systems, and computer architecture.
Responsibilities
- On-board emerging co-accelerators into Google's ML accelerator families to enable new use cases with improved performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement new features in system software, including firmware or daemons running on BMC/hosts and kernel drivers.
- Design and develop tests, tools, telemetry, and dashboards to generate insights to monitor and debug potential issues.
- Analyze, debug, and resolve complex system-level challenges related to host and management software stacks.
- Provide technical leadership to help formulate and drive software development plans and identify dependencies in cross-functional teams.
