Job description

The Principal Architect position in the Bing IndexServe team focuses on building large-scale distributed systems to enhance search, recommendation, and AI services. This role involves collaborating with ML/AI data scientists to implement cutting-edge techniques such as LLM and deep learning. The team is responsible for managing one of the world's largest distributed systems and aims to simplify the serving stack while driving relevance innovations. The position requires a tech leader who can architect solutions and mentor other engineers in a complex environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the improvement of artificial intelligence tools and practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership during code reviews to assure adherence to team standards.
  • Establish best practices for creating a clear test strategy that ensures solution quality.
  • Lead efforts for experiments that determine the impact of changes using feature flags.
  • Act as an expert in design and integration, providing feedback on system behavior.
  • Mentor other engineers and guide them in producing extensible, maintainable, and performant code.
