Job description

The Transportation Design Engineer will join the Boise office to support the transportation team on highway and bridge projects across Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. This role emphasizes collaboration in a team-based environment, where the engineer will apply their expertise in highway and roadway design to address complex challenges. The ideal candidate will also have experience in storm drainage analysis and design. The position involves preparing technical reports, construction plans, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering registration in Idaho or the ability to obtain it within six months if licensed in another state.
  • 4-8+ years of experience in transportation roadway and highway design.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using CADD/Design software such as Microstation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway and highway design using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D.
  • Support the development of roadway plans, drainage plans, and design-related calculations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and clients.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Assist in guiding interns and junior engineers, contributing to technical problem-solving and team growth.
  • Identify design challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination activities across all project phases.
