Job description

The Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer will join a collaborative team focused on providing innovative engineering solutions in the life sciences sector. This remote position emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and problem-solving to meet client objectives. The role involves developing HVAC systems and ensuring project success through mentorship and leadership. The engineer will work on advanced facilities projects, contributing to the design and execution of critical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering is required.
  • At least 10 years of related experience, specifically in pharmaceutical facility design including cGMP manufacturing facilities, is required.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of building load calculation software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other 3D design tools is necessary.
  • Knowledge of building codes and industry standards is required.
  • Central Utility Plant design experience, including large chilled water systems and steam boiler systems, is required.
  • Ability to lead a mechanical/utilities team from concept design through start-up is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall conceptual and basis of design level documentation.
  • Create HVAC and plant utility systems philosophies.
  • Develop mechanical and utility equipment specifications.
  • Perform temperature, humidity control, and utility load calculations.
  • Create airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, and ductwork and piping plans.
  • Develop P&ID's, equipment plans, and system details.
  • Establish building management system control philosophy and details.
  • Provide construction assistance through submittal reviews and field visits.
  • Direct activities of CAD/REVIT designers and utilize CAD and modeling programs as needed.
  • Manage and develop mechanical/utilities scope for project budgets and schedules.
  • Market services to clients and maintain client relationships.
