Job description
This role at Apple involves designing and implementing audio driver software for new products, focusing on both new feature development and support for existing drivers. The position requires collaboration with the Audio Software team and silicon vendors to innovate audio codecs. Additionally, the role includes debugging and supporting prototype audio hardware and software, as well as performing kernel-level debugging. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining and enhancing engineering documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- 3 years of experience utilizing C and C++.
- 3 years of experience developing drivers in a pre-silicon environment.
- 3 years of experience translating hardware data sheets into software.
- 3 years of experience in embedded software development, low-level firmware development, kernel development, and debugging.
- 3 years of experience working with hardware business protocols including I2C, I2S, and SPI.
- 3 years of experience utilizing kernel and low-level device driver development.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement audio driver software for new Apple products.
- Develop all aspects of audio drivers for Mac and Apple headphones.
- Collaborate with the Audio Software team to contribute to Mac OS software products.
- Work with silicon vendors to define new audio codecs for speakers and headphones.
- Debug and support prototype audio hardware and software.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to debug and isolate difficult driver and kernel issues.
- Perform kernel-level debugging using compilers, linkers, and source code management utilities.
- Utilize knowledge of multi-core embedded hardware systems and RTOS to maintain existing drivers and bring up new audio hardware.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation.
