Job description

As an engineer on the AWS HealthOmics Usability Team, you will build APIs and developer tools that integrate genomic analysis into customer workflows. The team focuses on simplifying complex bioinformatics processes, allowing researchers to concentrate on scientific breakthroughs rather than managing infrastructure. You will work closely with UX designers and product managers to enhance the developer experience and drive technical direction. This role requires a passion for making complex systems intuitive and user-friendly.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Write design documents for new features and collaborate on API ergonomics
  • Analyze customer feedback to identify opportunities for simplification
  • Instrument workflows to measure the impact of changes on user experience
  • Mentor teammates and advocate for customer experience across the stack
  • Contribute to technical direction and architecture decisions for scalable services

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
