The Member of Technical Staff position at Microsoft Robotics focuses on leading data analysis, curation, and visualization efforts to enhance robotics AI models. This senior-level role involves managing the data lifecycle and architecture for robot learning, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis. The team is dedicated to building an integrated robotics software and AI platform that facilitates collaboration between humans, robots, and AI agents. Candidates will work at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and data engineering to drive improvements in model performance and data quality.

• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years of data-science experience
• Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years of data-science experience
• Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year of data-science experience
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements

• Define and implement data collection strategies for robot learning, including demonstration coverage requirements and quality acceptance criteria.
• Build and maintain data curation pipelines that ensure data integrity and provenance tracking.
• Develop data analysis frameworks to quantify dataset characteristics and identify data gaps.
• Create interactive data visualization tools and dashboards for exploring dataset properties and model training metrics.
• Collaborate with ML researchers to design experiments measuring the impact of data on model performance.
• Formulate and maintain a roadmap of data science project activity to improve model performance metrics.
• Develop and apply statistical techniques to analyze robot performance data and inform model training strategies.
• Write efficient, readable, and extensible code in Python for data processing and analysis.
• Adhere to ethics and privacy policies related to collecting and preparing robotics data.
• Present results and findings to senior stakeholders using compelling visualizations.
