Job description
The Member of Technical Staff position at Microsoft Robotics focuses on developing, training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models that enable robots to interact with the physical world. This role is part of the Microsoft Discovery and Quantum division, which aims to advance AI and robotics technologies. The engineer will work on vision-language-action models and other robot learning techniques, contributing to the development of an integrated robotics software and AI platform. The position emphasizes collaboration with researchers and engineers to enhance the robot learning lifecycle from data collection to deployment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and train end-to-end robot learning models, including vision-language-action family of models.
- Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines for robot learning.
- Train machine learning and deep learning models on GPU computing clusters.
- Deploy trained models to physical robot platforms and conduct real-world evaluations.
- Implement and maintain evaluation frameworks for robot learning models.
- Collaborate with robotics researchers, simulation engineers, and platform engineers.
- Write production-quality code in Python that is well-tested and maintainable.
- Review code and technical designs to provide feedback to other engineers.
- Stay current with state-of-the-art research in robot learning and physical AI.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing through technical documentation and mentoring.
