Job description
The Member of Technical Staff role at Microsoft Robotics focuses on defining and implementing security and safety frameworks for the robotics platform. This senior-level position bridges cybersecurity, functional safety, and AI safety, ensuring that robots and AI models operate securely and safely. The team is dedicated to building an integrated robotics software and AI platform that enhances collaboration between humans, robots, and AI agents. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end security and safety architectures for robotic systems.
- Develop and maintain safety analyses and threat models specific to robotic systems operating in human-populated environments.
- Define and enforce safety envelopes and runtime safety monitors for autonomous robot behaviors.
- Analyze key security metrics and telemetry data to identify trends in security posture and safety incidents.
- Design and scale solutions to address identified security control issues specific to robotics deployments.
- Develop and implement incident response processes for robotics-specific security and safety events.
- Collaborate with robotics engineers, AI researchers, and platform engineers to embed security and safety requirements into the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of security policies and standards for robotic systems.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and industry standards organizations to stay current on evolving safety and security requirements.
- Leverage automation and AI to improve the effectiveness of security operations.
