The Member of Technical Staff position at Microsoft Robotics focuses on leading the design, integration, and analysis of physics-based simulation frameworks for robotics development. This senior role involves architecting high-fidelity simulation environments that model robot kinematics and dynamics, enabling advanced AI training and evaluation. The team is dedicated to building Microsoft’s platform for physical intelligence, fostering collaboration between humans, robots, and AI agents. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain physics-based simulation frameworks for robotics applications.
- Implement essential robotics simulation features, including accurate sensor and actuator models.
- Build real-to-sim and sim-to-real workflows for dynamic environments and robotics tasks.
- Create and maintain asset toolchains supporting industry-standard formats and integrate with 3D content pipelines.
- Develop simulation infrastructure for robust autonomy test and evaluation.
- Collaborate closely with robotics engineers, ML researchers, and platform engineers.
- Lead architectural decisions for simulation platform selection and integration.
- Review product code and test code to ensure it meets team standards.
- Drive efforts to integrate logging and instrumentation for gathering telemetry data.
- Remain current in simulation and physics engine developments and emerging technologies.
