Job description
As a Cellular 4G/5G System Performance Engineer, you will be integral to the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular system and firmware efforts within a silicon design group. This role involves crafting advanced embedded firmware and collaborating with various product development teams to innovate wireless systems technologies. You will be responsible for verifying embedded systems and firmware while addressing performance issues. Your work will directly impact the performance of Apple products globally.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Advanced knowledge of 4G/5G physical layer, protocol stack, and procedures.
- 5+ years of experience in 4G/5G development, system engineering, or device performance verification.
- Experience in investigating and troubleshooting cellular device performance issues.
- Strong analysis and debugging capabilities.
- Understanding of software engineering principles and core computer science fundamentals.
- Proficient in scripting or programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Java.
- Experience with 4G/5G signaling and physical layer test equipment and their automation interfaces.
- Ph.D. degree in wireless communication or electrical engineering is a plus.
- Solid knowledge in Layer 2/Layer 3/NAS and network performance optimization is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Craft sophisticated embedded firmware that enhances product performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate improved hardware elements into a single design.
- Verify all aspects of embedded systems and firmware.
- Investigate and troubleshoot cellular device performance issues.
- Debug performance issues and work with firmware development and systems design teams.
- Utilize various 4G/5G signaling and physical layer test equipment for performance verification.
- Optimize network performance and contribute to the development of new wireless technologies.
