Job description
The Acoustic Engineer will be part of the Audio Products Team at Apple, focusing on the acoustic design and audio quality of the AirPods lineup. This role involves taking innovative audio concepts from design to mass production, ensuring a superior audio experience for customers. Requirements
- 3+ years in an acoustics engineering role, preferably within the audio consumer electronics industry
- BS/MS in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or an equivalent field
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with multi-disciplinary team members
- A strong passion for audio and a fundamental knowledge of acoustic theory with a focus on electroacoustics, physical acoustics, and acoustic simulation
- Practical understanding of acoustic transducers and equivalent circuit modeling techniques in the context of headphone design
- Experience with integration of speakers and microphones, including designing for water and chemical resistance
- Proficiency with acoustic simulation tools, acoustic measurement tools and data acquisition
- Proficiency in high level programming (MATLAB or Python)
- Experience modeling acoustic systems with COMSOL Multiphysics or equivalent software packages
- Familiarity with 3D CAD preferred
Responsibilities
- Take new and innovative audio concepts from the early design phase to mass production.
- Provide input on mechanical and electrical design to the industrial and product design teams.
- Simulate, build, and validate acoustic designs while contributing to digital signal processing.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to find innovative solutions to complex engineering issues.
- Support engineering activities with limited international travel as required.
