Job description
The HPC Storage Engineer role at KLA focuses on designing, testing, and tuning high-performance storage systems for HPC environments. The position is part of the Computational Solutions Infrastructure Group, which builds scalable infrastructure for compute- and data-intensive workloads. This role offers hands-on experience with production HPC storage systems and provides strong technical mentorship. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers to balance performance, reliability, and cost while integrating storage solutions into shipped systems.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in storage, systems, HPC, or infrastructure engineering
- Hands-on experience working in Linux environments
- Exposure to high-performance or enterprise storage systems
- Understanding of storage fundamentals such as IOPS, latency, and bandwidth
- Familiarity with NVMe or SSD-based storage, RAID and data protection concepts, and parallel or distributed storage concepts
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and implementation of high-performance storage for HPC environments
- Support storage configurations using NVMe, SSDs, RAID, and enterprise components
- Help balance performance, reliability, and cost under guidance from senior engineers
- Work with product, hardware, and HPC teams to integrate storage into shipped systems
- Assist with storage qualification, testing, and documentation
- Execute storage benchmarks aligned to real engineering workloads
- Analyze I/O behavior, throughput, latency, and metadata performance
- Troubleshoot storage and performance issues in Linux environments
- Partner closely with senior HPC storage engineers and architects
- Learn best practices for production-grade HPC storage design
