Job description
The role focuses on architecting scalable and high-performance storage solutions for KLA's Broadband Plasma Division. The team is responsible for developing metrology and inspection products for semiconductor manufacturing. Candidates will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize storage architectures and address performance bottlenecks. This position requires a strong understanding of storage technologies and hands-on experience in performance tuning.
Requirements
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Deep expertise in Linux systems, including I/O stack and kernel behavior
- Strong experience designing and deploying storage solutions in high-performance environments
- Strong understanding of storage technologies such as NVMe, SSD, HDD, and RAID
- Hands-on experience with performance benchmarking, profiling, and tuning
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cluster architectures
- Hands-on expertise with parallel file systems, including Lustre and BeeGFS
Responsibilities
- Architect scalable, high-performance storage solutions across BBP platforms
- Evaluate and optimize storage architectures across diverse workloads
- Analyze tradeoffs across performance, cost, reliability, and scalability
- Perform hands-on performance characterization, benchmarking, and tuning of storage and I/O subsystems
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks across Linux, network, and storage stacks
- Drive internal innovation by influencing architectural direction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and understand workload characteristics
- Support evaluation, POC, and productization of storage solutions for future BBP platforms
- Contribute to internal knowledge base, documentation, and best practices for storage design and tuning
