We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our robotics team, focusing on controls and embedded software for advanced workcell automation solutions. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying real-time control systems for robotic manipulation tasks. You will collaborate with a team of engineers to create reliable and high-performance automation solutions. This position requires expertise in embedded systems, motion control, and distributed software architecture.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- 4+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
- 2+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time embedded control software for robotic workcells.
- Develop software architectures that balance real-time performance constraints with maintainability.
- Own the development of control algorithms and embedded software components within the Workcell Controls Architecture.
- Partner with hardware teams to define control interfaces and optimize software performance.
- Lead technical design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Mentor team members on embedded systems best practices and real-time programming techniques.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and drive root cause analysis.
