The Senior Software Development Engineer role focuses on building globally distributed replication systems for Amazon Aurora, a cloud-based relational database service. The team is dedicated to enhancing cross-region disaster recovery capabilities to meet increasing customer demands. This position involves designing high-performance replication pipelines and mentoring other engineers. The successful candidate will have a significant impact on the architecture and implementation of core systems that ensure global consistency and reliability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance replication pipelines for Amazon Aurora.
- Drive cross-Region failover orchestration to enhance disaster recovery.
- Define the architecture for the next generation of global database capabilities.
- Mentor engineers across the team to improve technical skills and direction.
- Deliver solutions that improve recovery time for customers during regional outages.
