Job description
In this role, you will lead a high-caliber team within Rivian’s Perception organization, focusing on the strategy for compressing, optimizing, and deploying advanced neural networks onto custom embedded compute platforms. You will bridge the gap between machine learning research and hardware constraints, ensuring the autonomy stack meets performance and safety requirements. The position emphasizes team leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across various engineering disciplines. Your expertise will drive the development of innovative solutions in a dynamic and adventurous environment.
Requirements
- MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of industrial experience.
- At least 2 years in a technical leadership or management capacity.
- Expert-level knowledge of the machine learning stack, including high-level frameworks and silicon.
- Proven track record of deploying large-scale models into production using advanced optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in C++, CUDA, and assembly-level optimization.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary stakeholder for the Perception team in collaboration with Hardware Architecture.
- Build, lead, and develop a world-class team of acceleration engineers.
- Define the 2-3 year strategy for model compression and runtime optimization.
- Partner with leads from Perception, Planning, and Embedded Systems to ensure real-time model execution.
- Oversee the development of automated profiling and CI/CD benchmarking pipelines.
