The role is focused on leading efforts in understanding the threat landscape and the tactics used by threat actors. The Microsoft Security Research team aims to protect customers by providing insightful cyber threat intelligence. This position involves collaboration with various teams to enhance security solutions and improve intelligence experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and threat analysis, contributing to the defense against sophisticated digital threats.

• Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 3+ years experience in relevant fields, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
• 3+ years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, or a closely related security discipline.
• Demonstrated experience producing finished threat intelligence reporting for technical and/or executive audiences.
• Working experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR or comparable platforms.

• Lead with AI to understand the threat landscape and the latest attacker tradecraft.
• Track threat actors, their infrastructure, targets, and shifting techniques.
• Translate complex technical findings into clear guidance for security operations teams and executives.
• Partner with product, research, marketing, and communications teams to enhance intelligence experiences.
• Build and refine pipelines, tooling, and workflows for streaming cyber threat intelligence.
