Job description

The Principal Software Engineer role at Microsoft focuses on leading the technical strategy and architecture for the AEGIS security platforms within the Microsoft 365 Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud. This position is crucial for ensuring security compliance and resilience across various services. The engineer will work closely with teams to enhance security measures and implement AI-driven solutions for vulnerability detection and remediation. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to maintain high security standards across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 6+ years of experience designing, shipping, and operating production cloud or large-scale distributed services.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience in security, trust, or compliance engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical strategy and architecture for AEGIS's multi-service security platforms and AI agentic systems.
  • Provide architecture depth and review rigor across IC3 security work by leading design reviews and security reviews.
  • Define and enforce quality gates to ensure consistent security execution across IC3 services.
  • Exercise compliance judgment by translating various regulatory standards into concrete engineering requirements.
  • Drive partner alignment across IC3 and M365 to ensure coherent program execution.
