Job description
The Staff Silicon Physical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the quantum electronics team at Google, focusing on the physical implementation of ASICs for quantum computing applications. This position involves collaborating with digital designers and RF/analog/mixed-signal engineers to develop sophisticated electronics for quantum control and readout. The engineer will lead the digital RTL-to-GDS2 process and manage external implementation teams. The role also includes vendor management and contributing to the long-term ASIC strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in physical implementation of high-performance ASICs.
- Experience building ASIC implementation flows from RTL to GDS2.
Responsibilities
- Own the development and maintenance of an industry-standard ASIC implementation flow.
- Perform RTL-to-GDS2 digital physical implementation, including timing constraint generation and synthesis.
- Collaborate with internal architecture and design teams to evaluate design tradeoffs.
- Manage program execution of quantum control electronics ICs with internal teams and external vendors.
- Contribute to IP evaluation and negotiation of IP contracts.
