Job description
The Senior Cloud Hardware Development Engineer (CHDE) role at AWS involves architecting, designing, developing, and building next-generation servers and hardware components. You will work within a diverse team of engineers and specialists to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that meet the needs of AWS customers. The position requires collaboration with various internal teams and external suppliers to ensure the successful integration and operation of hardware and software components. This fast-paced role offers the opportunity to solve complex technology challenges and contribute to the evolution of cloud infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or 5+ years of relevant technical position experience.
- 5+ years of experience in server level design for compute, storage, accelerator segment or other complex product design.
- 5+ years’ experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in the product development and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- Experience in board and server root cause analysis and resolution.
- 6+ years of experience in complex product development such as servers, network switches, or other highly integrated devices with hardware, software, and service aspects.
- Expertise in early product definition and feature tradeoff analysis.
- Expertise in product development disciplines such as thermal, mechanical, power, FW/SW, reliability, and sustaining.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Proficient scripting, debug abilities, and Linux operations commands.
- Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers.
- Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Bring new technology to server products and scale operations for the existing fleet.
- Collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers to deliver new servers with industry-leading performance and quality.
- Establish strategic vision and drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services.
- Lead the integration and delivery of servers and support the development of automated monitoring and failure analysis services.
- Work closely with other AWS software teams to tailor and operate server solutions for the AWS environment.
- Support the launch of servers into production and operate the fleet of servers.
- Interface with internal customers to understand project requirements and facilitate system development.
- Solve operational challenges to improve customer experience and develop improved systems for future designs.
- Work directly with vendors and ODM/JDM design teams to develop and manufacture products at scale.
