Job description

This role involves the physical design implementation of custom CPU designs, transitioning from RTL to GDS to create a manufacturing-ready design database. The position requires collaboration with various teams to enhance CPU microarchitectures and optimize design parameters such as power, frequency, and area. The candidate will also work with EDA vendors to improve tool capabilities for high-speed, low-power CPU designs. This position is part of the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group, focusing on delivering innovative silicon solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or any STEM related degree and 6+ years of experience, or a master's degree in the same fields with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in VLSI circuit design and synthesis.
  • Experience in static timing analysis.
  • Experience in low power design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical design implementation of custom CPU designs from RTL to GDS.
  • Conduct all aspects of the CPU physical design flow including synthesis, place and route, and static timing analysis.
  • Conduct verification and signoff including formal equivalence verification and electrical rule checking.
  • Analyze results and make recommendations to improve CPU microarchitectures.
  • Collaborate with logic, circuit, architecture, and design automation teams.
  • Work with industry EDA vendors to enhance tool capabilities.
  • Optimize CPU design to improve product level parameters.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of physical design methodologies.
