Job description

Bain & Company is seeking a high-energy Software Engineer to join their Private Equity Group Innovation team. The role involves hands-on development, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to design and maintain PEG products, while fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Working proficiency with Python3 (FastAPI)
  • Working proficiency in modern TypeScript/JavaScript (ES6+) and its ecosystem
  • Working proficiency with PostgreSQL, including writing efficient queries and understanding normalization
  • Familiarity with version control, such as Git
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot basic programming errors using debugging tools and logs
  • Familiarity with REST APIs (preferred)
  • Familiarity with AWS services (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization (preferred)
  • Experience with various third-party APIs and handling data aggregation (preferred)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve complex problems
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in documentation and discussion
  • A growth mindset, with a passion for continuous learning and self-improvement
  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or related field) and/or related experience (1-3+ years)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement features with guidance from senior engineers
  • Debug and troubleshoot distributed systems and complex data processing pipelines
  • Participate in team meetings, ask clarifying questions, and share progress with the team
  • Work within an Agile environment
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Stay on the cutting edge of technology and introduce innovative solutions to improve the team’s processes and outcomes
  • Document coding processes and workflows to ensure ease of maintenance and updates
