Job description
As a Hardware Test Engineer in Tesla's Vision Hardware Camera Cleaning team, you'll engage in innovative R&D to enhance vehicle autonomy. This role involves developing validation plans, building custom test rigs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to tackle complex validation challenges.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong engineering fundamentals
- Test experience from school projects, internships, or other relevant experience
- Genuine curiosity to figure out why something doesn’t work
- Demonstrated experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems
- Experience with sensors (load cells, strain gages, LVDT etc.) and data acquisition systems such as National Instruments, Dewesoft, etc.
- Experience with CAD and fixture design (CATIA background is a plus)
- Experience with programming (Python background is a plus), LabVIEW and CAN communication for test automation
Responsibilities
- Develop validation plans and comprehensive test strategies to validate hardware performance under real-world conditions
- Build and iterate on custom mechanical test rigs and validation setups using 80/20 framing, 3D printers, machining tools, and shop fabrication methods
- Conduct hands-on analysis of hardware performance data from vehicle fleets and rugged test environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights, align on requirements, and resolve complex validation challenges
- Leverage technologies in AI to accelerate development and enhance validation processes
