Job description
Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of automated material handling systems for its factories. The role involves managing projects from concept to installation while working in a fast-paced environment and mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in manufacturing sector (automation line integrator, automotive OEM or Tier 1,2,3 supplier)
- Mech Designer, Project Engineer and Project Management experience
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software, strong design experience understanding the mechanics and standards of automation equipment
- A solid engineering background with hands-on design and development experience
- A passion to work with automation equipment and design processes around it
- Ability to lead a project from concept through to installation and hand-over while working in a close-knit, team environment
- Knowledge of and experience with material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Design automated material handling solutions to establish new and improved existing material flows throughout the facilities
- Drive material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems
- Develop analytical models to establish design criteria and overall system performance criteria
- Investigate and research advanced technologies to optimize material handling equipment and systems
- Concept development, detailed engineering design, and collaboration with system build and integration
- Develop RFQs, technical equipment specifications, procedures, and proper documentation
