Job description
Tesla is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to innovate manufacturing processes and equipment for next-generation drive unit inverters. This role involves collaboration with design engineers and leading pilot line activities to ensure efficient production and high-quality standards.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer developing and deploying electronics assembly processes in high-volume automated production environments
- Proven experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment and processes, and driving installation, commissioning, and ramp-up activities
- Demonstrated expertise of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) principles
- Proficiency in CAD tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA
- Solid grasp of lean and six sigma principles, with experience using tools like DMAIC, RCA, DOE, FMEA, PCA, SPC, and Kaizen
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data using tools like MySQL, Python, JMP, Tableau
Responsibilities
- Design and develop cutting-edge manufacturing equipment and processes for high-volume production of drive unit inverters
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles are applied to new product designs
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of pilot lines, including tool specification, equipment installation, process development, and transition to high-volume production
- Work with equipment suppliers and integrators to design and develop custom equipment for pilot and high-volume production
- Apply various manufacturing techniques and quality assurance methods
- Meet high-volume production targets and drive continuous improvement
- Lead cross-functional teams to solve complex problems using data-driven decision making
