Job description
Tesla is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the Texas Gigafactory by designing and optimizing mechanical systems and factory utilities. The role involves coordinating with various disciplines to ensure project success and solving complex engineering challenges.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience designing and or construction of HVAC or industrial mechanical systems
- Knowledge in chiller plant, boiler plant, piping and ductwork design, HVAC load calculations, and industrial exhaust system design
- Working towards Professional Engineer registration for Texas
- Working knowledge in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, engineering calculation tools and equipment selection software
- Familiar with International Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA standards, SMACNA duct construction standards, ACGIH Ventilation Practices, and ASHRAE
- Construction administration experience
- Problem solving skills in a fast paced environment
Responsibilities
- Mechanical system engineering design from conceptual design through construction administration
- Coordinating with multiple disciplines to ensure projects are delivered within budget and schedule
- Research and contribute with innovative and traditional ideas to solve challenging and difficult engineering problems
- Provide basis of design, sequence of operation and design contract drawings
- Coordinate design between different disciplines and perform construction administration to ensure correct installation
