Job description
The Process Engineer will design and execute material flow systems to optimize production rates and warehouse layouts for Tesla products. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills to manage improvement projects in a fast-paced environment, while collaborating with various teams to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of material flow experience in a highly automated manufacturing facility
- Commanding knowledge of lean principles, logistics business systems, pre-determined motion and time standards
- Practical experience utilizing FlexSim, or a similar simulation tool
- Advanced skills in SQL, Python, or other analytical tools for data mining and analysis
- Ability to work efficiently and productively in both independent and team settings
- Demonstrated talent for implementing process flow improvements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, or similar 2D CAD software
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholder teams such as Manufacturing Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain teams, IT Systems Developers, and Material Planning to prioritize and maximize operational efficiency of Production Control Operations team
- Design and optimize material flow conveyance routes, facility layouts by analyzing bottlenecks and buffer sizes using process modeling
- Lead and own PFEP standardization and adoption of processes through the entire value stream of material flow
- Develop simulation models for all processes including receiving, staging, and conveyance deliveries to the assembly line
- Analyze and improve material flow processes from the network of external warehouses to manufacturing facilities optimizing for space, cost, and service levels
- Develop business cases for improvement projects such as material handling – touch reduction, automation support etc., with a focus on workforce planning and management
- Create documentation for training materials such as job cards, standard work, and standard operating procedure
