Job description

Tesla is looking for a Quality Systems Engineer to develop and implement quality management systems at the Megapack 2XL manufacturing site in Lathrop, CA. The role involves managing technicians, conducting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high standards of safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in quality engineering, with experience establishing/auditing systems in global manufacturing/remanufacturing
  • Proven track record managing teams and conducting effective audits
  • Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001) and tools/methodologies (e.g. PFMEA, root cause analysis, CAPA)
  • Strong understanding of data analytics in manufacturing environments
  • Servant leadership style, empowering others through guidance and strong communication
  • Impeccable judgment, uncompromising integrity on quality/safety, and resilience in dynamic environments
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Architect advanced integrated quality systems leveraging real-time data from Tesla's manufacturing platforms
  • Champion continuous improvement and first principles thinking to evolve systems beyond baseline requirements
  • Manage and mentor technicians who perform select system audits, ensuring consistent execution, reporting and problem solving
  • Conduct audits on compliance, system effectiveness, and performance, identifying gaps and driving corrective actions
  • Develop feedback loops, CAPA processes, and metrics monitoring to resolve issues proactively and prevent recurrence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure preparedness for external regulatory audits and customer visits
