Job description

Meta is seeking a Data Center Electrical Engineer to join their Electrical Design Engineering team. The role involves owning power system engineering for high-power compute platforms in data centers, requiring expertise in electrical modeling, troubleshooting, and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical or power system engineering, including design, modeling, or validation testing for critical infrastructure
  • Experience within hyperscale data centers, high-power hardware development, or similar critical infrastructure environments
  • Expertise in advanced modeling techniques for complex data center hardware designs
  • Track record of troubleshooting and root cause isolation in complex electrical systems
  • Experience leading electrical component/equipment deployment, testing, and failure analysis across multiple complex hardware programs
  • Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience presenting technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional engineering and leadership audiences

Responsibilities

  • Hold comprehensive technical ownership for the power system engineering of next-generation, high-power compute platforms across the full product lifecycle
  • Drive extensive system investigations into power and electrical stability across multiple generations of high-power rack systems in a data center setting
  • Lead the production of critical safety and design deliverables, including protection and safety design and analysis for high-voltage Direct Current (HVDC) distribution systems
  • Utilize electrical modeling and simulation tools to analyze rack and row level power distribution components
  • Perform complex system-level modeling, including harmonic and impedance analysis across large-scale data center sites
  • Lead advanced electrical troubleshooting efforts, such as root cause analysis for switching transients and component failures
  • Participate in studies regarding the impact of next-generation AI workload power characteristics on power quality and grid stability
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to cross-functional teams on HVDC distribution technology

Benefits

  • Employees at Meta are often offered comprehensive benefits, including medical/dental/vision coverage, mental-health resources, family planning support (fertility, adoption, surrogacy), and caregiving programs. Financial benefits typically include a competitive retirement plan, equity awards, life insurance, and access to financial coaching and legal support. Time-off benefits commonly feature generous PTO and holidays, unlimited sick time, various paid leaves, flexible “Global Travel Days,” and a 30-day paid break every five years.
