JobsNVH Engineer, Robotics
Job description
This role involves optimizing the noise and vibration characteristics of Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure superior sound quality and consistent performance in production, focusing on components like fans, electric motors, and gears.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or equivalent experience
- Expertise in sound source localization, transfer path analysis, modal analysis, and component-level noise and vibration testing
- Proficiency in sound quality analysis with a deep understanding of psychoacoustics and hearing physiology
- Experience in health monitoring and fault detection of rotating machinery using vibration sensors
- Strong skills in root cause analysis for noise and vibration challenges
- Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to noise and vibration
- Experience with finite element analysis to establish component and product-level performance targets
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize sound quality and minimize noise and vibration in Optimus components and assemblies
- Conduct detailed testing and analysis at component and product levels to ensure consistency in production
- Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve noise and vibration issues across systems
- Utilize advanced techniques such as sound source localization, transfer path analysis, and modal analysis for diagnostics
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to set and achieve noise and vibration performance targets
- Support health monitoring and fault detection for rotating machinery using vibration sensors
- Fabricate and test prototype components to validate design improvements
Benefits
- Employees at Tesla are often offered day-one coverage with multiple medical options (some at $0 paycheck cost), dental/vision, company HSA contributions, a 401(k) match, and equity programs.
