Job description
As a member of Tesla's Vehicle Controls team, you will design, simulate, and implement control algorithms for mechatronic systems in vehicles. This role involves collaboration with engineers from various disciplines to enhance the performance of systems like doors, liftgates, and powertrains.
Requirements
- Excellent background in linear systems analysis, motion planning, state and parameter estimation, and controller design
- Solid experience and deep understanding of the physics of mechatronic systems and servomechanisms
- Creating dynamic models of electrical and mechanical systems
- Model development and data analysis using Matlab/Simulink and Python
- Experience with designing and implementing machine learning models
- Basic proficiency with embedded software development in C/C++
- Strong communication skills and preference for working in a collaborative environment
- Two or more years of experience with control system development, modeling, and implementation in an embedded environment
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Research, design, simulate, implement, debug, calibrate, and test control, estimation and monitoring algorithms for various electro-mechanical systems in the vehicle body and powertrain
- Work collaboratively with responsible Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineers to define actuation, sensing requirements, establish control system capabilities, and set targets
- Advance the state of the art in control systems deployed in Tesla vehicles
