Job description

The Senior Longitudinal Motion Systems Engineering & Integration role at Rivian is essential for shaping the future of their electric vehicles. This position involves collaboration with experts across various technical domains to define and analyze vehicle motion functions and requirements. The role focuses on bridging technical domains and program goals while supporting brake system functional integration. A deep understanding of automotive brake systems engineering is crucial for translating requirements into practical solutions.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0, 3.5 or higher preferred.
  • 1-5 years’ experience working in Vehicle Dynamics, Brake Controls or Brake Systems Engineering.
  • Experience operating within a vehicle development cycle on a new vehicle or major model change project.
  • Experience integrating OEM and braking supplier features and functions.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and systems engineering.
  • Experience defining and decomposing system functions and requirements.
  • Experience creating system structural and behavioral diagrams.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering concepts, tools and practices.
  • Experience conducting Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience working with ISO 26262.

Responsibilities

  • Define Vehicle-level functions, use cases, requirements and user stories for Longitudinal Vehicle Motion.
  • Decompose, allocate and cascade Longitudinal Vehicle Motion functions and requirements to Subsystems.
  • Lead cross-Attribute workstreams relevant to requirement definition and implementation.
  • Analyze fleet data to refine Vehicle use cases and duty cycle definition.
  • Conduct Failure and Risk Analysis and Assessments for Longitudinal Vehicle Motion functions.
  • Support Functional Safety Analysis for Longitudinal Vehicle Motion functions.
  • Work closely with simulation teams to ensure simulation test cases are aligned to Use Cases and Attributes.
  • Collaborate with Chassis, Electrical and Controls Engineering teams to define System architectures.
  • Support Brake System Software Integration including documentation alignment and requirement reviews.
  • Support fleet and field Brake System issue triage and resolution.
  • Define functional DVPs and test methods, and review functional and performance test reports for sign-off.
  • Provide expertise on new or revised system designs and assess their impact.
