Job description
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join their team in Texas, focusing on modeling, developing, implementing, and fine-tuning traffic signal timing. This role is part of the Global Mobility Business Area, which aims to design connected and sustainable solutions for urban mobility. The engineer will work with data and guidelines to improve travel operations for various modes of transportation. The position emphasizes collaboration and innovation to address complex mobility challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
- 12+ years of relevant work experience in engineering
- Master's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering is preferred
- Experience with signal timing analysis tools and simulation models such as SYNCHRO, Vistro, VISSIM, PARAMICS, and TransModeler is desirable
- Texas PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, implement, fine-tune, and evaluate traffic signal timing
- Analyze traffic signal operation on arterials and networks
- Specify applicable data collection and develop new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis
- Input traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers
- Design and analyze traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness
- Prepare business development proposals and manage project budgets
- Develop traffic studies and impact reports
- Communicate effectively with clients on complex and technical issues
