Job description

The AWS EC2 Nitro team is seeking an experienced System Development Engineer to enhance the development of new EC2 machine learning platforms. This role involves collaborating with various technical teams to maintain operational health and improve infrastructure. The engineer will focus on streamlining operations, automating test infrastructure, and mentoring junior engineers. The team values work-life balance and offers flexibility in working hours.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools to streamline operations and reduce operational load as the team scales.
  • Identify ways to automate and improve the test infrastructure and enhance CI/CD processes.
  • Investigate and recommend best practices for maintaining and improving code quality and service reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers to enhance their skills and knowledge of systems.
  • Write clear and concise documentation to help other engineers utilize the service and tools effectively.
