·FY 2025Job description
As an Interdisciplinary System Engineer at Amazon Robotics, you will be responsible for system design and discrete event modeling to inform critical deployment decisions. Your role will involve using simulation tools to model complex processes and recommend strategies that optimize efficiency and reduce costs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that model outputs align with real-world constraints. This position requires a blend of simulation expertise and systems engineering skills to drive design decisions effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience with discrete event simulation tools and modeling techniques
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret model output and identify failure patterns
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present technical findings to diverse audiences
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment and high-speed manufacturing
- 2+ years of experience in system development engineering or NPI engineering roles
- Background in industrial automation, manufacturing operations, or site integration projects
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification or Master's degree in engineering or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end discrete event simulation development using AnyLogic, FlexSim, or equivalent software.
- Identify critical path constraints through simulation analysis and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Develop optimized deployment sequencing strategies by modeling scenarios and trade-offs.
- Build workcell operational models with OEE sensitivity analysis against hardware components.
- Conduct scenario analysis to project hardware design change impacts on OEE metrics.
- Partner cross-functionally with deployment engineers, hardware design teams, and program managers.
- Communicate complex simulation results through clear visualizations, reports, and presentations.
- Establish best practices for simulation model development, validation, and version control.
- Contribute to system design reviews with simulation-informed insights on workcell layout and process architecture.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
