·FY 2025Job description
The founding engineer role in Tech Transformation focuses on evaluating the deployability of Amazon Robotics products through virtual simulations. This position involves using Tecnomatix Process Simulate and CETOL 6σ to analyze assembly processes and mechanical interfaces. The team aims to shift deployment engineering from reactive to proactive by providing data-driven feedback on design constraints. The role is integral to ensuring successful integration of robotic solutions into Amazon's fulfillment network.
Requirements
- 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field
- Experience in 3D CAD
- Experience with assembly process planning, DfA/DfM, or manufacturing engineering
- Experience with tolerance analysis tools such as CETOL 6σ or 3DCS
- Experience with statistical modeling or related analytic techniques
- Experience with ergonomic assessment tools like Siemens Jack or 3D SSPP
- Familiarity with 3D scanning or point cloud data
- Experience in deployment, installation, or field engineering for automated or robotic systems
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis
Responsibilities
- Build and execute assembly simulations of robotic workcells using Tecnomatix Process Simulate.
- Develop scalable simulation workflows and templates for DfD reviews across multiple product programs.
- Review hardware CAD models against deployment requirements and provide actionable DfD feedback.
- Build and maintain a 3D library of common deployment tools with spatial operating envelopes.
- Collaborate with Reality Capture engineers to integrate building envelope data into deployment simulations.
- Perform 3D dimensional variation analysis using CETOL 6σ to model tolerance chains.
- Partner with Hardware, Tech Deploy, and Manufacturing teams to establish DfD as a core accountability.
- Design and execute field experiments to characterize construction tolerances and translate findings into design guidelines.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
