Job description

The Security Engineer for Cloud Threat and Abuse Detection at Google is responsible for creating and maintaining a secure operating environment for users and developers. This role involves working with network equipment to monitor systems for attacks and collaborating with software engineers to identify and fix security vulnerabilities. The position is part of the Cloud CISO Security Engineering team, which focuses on ensuring the security of Google Cloud products. The engineer will also work globally with various internal stakeholders to protect Google and its users from attacks originating from the Google Cloud Platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
  • 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
  • 2 years of experience coding in one or more general purpose languages.

Responsibilities

  • Research new detection techniques to prevent and mitigate abusive activities such as outbound security attacks and DDoS.
  • Develop high fidelity detection to identify malicious activity based on raw network and host level telemetry.
  • Analyze various logs and packets to increase the accuracy of detections.
  • Hunt for threats and abusers and respond proactively.
  • Create, develop, and manage tools to collect and process abuse reports and threat intelligence data.
