Job description

The Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing automated packaging, sortation, and labeling platforms to enhance delivery efficiency for Amazon's customers. This position involves technical ownership and refinement of automation systems, collaborating closely with Electrical and Controls teams. The team operates in a multi-disciplinary environment, emphasizing hands-on problem-solving and the development of integrated systems. The role directly contributes to Amazon's sustainability goals and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industrial controls and automation experience
  • Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including Ansys, Creo, Catia, and Solidworks
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Hands-on experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
  • GD&T and manufacturing process knowledge
  • Understanding of packaging machinery safety standards
  • Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced simulation expertise

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projects
  • Lead the mechanical design workstreams encompassing core system evolution and structural member design
  • Deliver engineering workstreams including drive system modeling and load calculations
  • Execute detailed design evolution of modules and subsystems for material specifications
  • Partner with Electrical Engineering to ensure project documentation is complete and scalable
  • Support the project team in the safety certification of the project/platform
  • Influence and standardize engineering processes across the organization
