Job description

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to join the Consolidated Attribute Repository for Disparate Systems (CARDS) team. This role focuses on developing attribute-based access control solutions that enhance Amazon's identity and access management infrastructure. The engineer will work on scalable software systems that handle millions of requests per second while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position also emphasizes mentoring and driving technical excellence within the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable software systems for attribute-based access control solutions.
  • Lead architecture decisions for foundational attribute store systems.
  • Build and maintain high-quality systems and services that enable fine-grained access controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Mentor engineers on software development best practices and drive technical excellence.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
