Job description

The Team Leader for Data Engineering will drive Shared Infrastructure programs within the Data organization at Bloomberg. This role focuses on enabling scalable and responsible data workflows by leading a team dedicated to reusable infrastructure and operational standards. The ideal candidate will partner with Engineering, Product, and Data teams to identify high-impact opportunities and implement efficient workflows. The position requires a blend of technical fluency and leadership skills to translate complex needs into clear, scalable solutions.

Requirements

  • Prior people leadership experience in technical, data, or infrastructure-related environments.
  • Strong technical judgment in data engineering and shared systems design.
  • Experience designing and scaling shared frameworks or platform-like capabilities.
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and translate diverse needs into clear requirements.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a central team responsible for shared data infrastructure and reusable workflow patterns.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership by translating team needs into clear requirements and scalable solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data leaders to identify high-impact opportunities for shared capabilities.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for cross-team needs and enable consistent approaches.
  • Ensure shared components and frameworks are well-designed, documented, and broadly adopted.
