Job description

The Wireless Network Development Engineer will focus on enhancing the availability and reliability of Amazon's wireless network infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams to develop technical strategies and solutions for one of the largest wireless networks globally. The team works on a variety of tactical and strategic projects, impacting fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide. This position offers an opportunity to grow engineering skills and contribute to Amazon's operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience
  • Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of IP network fundamentals and packet capture analysis
  • 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl experience
  • Experience with IP networking fundamentals and TCP/IP, UDP, DNS & DHCP
  • Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
  • MS in Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, or related fields
  • Security related certifications (SANS, ISC2, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and deliver technical solutions that improve the availability of wireless network technologies.
  • Partner with peer teams to interpret customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
  • Define and meter the availability of existing and future network solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized services.
  • Dive deep on complex problems to identify root causes of customer impacts and develop corrective actions.
  • Evaluate new technologies, conduct lab testing, and define proof of concept (PoC) and pilot deployment.
  • Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and lifecycle management.
  • Define strategy for future team processes and tools to improve maintenance and management efficiency.
  • Contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon.
  • Develop automation to resolve wireless network failures.
  • Investigate challenging problems to identify root causes and improve customer experience on Wi-Fi.
  • Create and update wireless network designs to improve reliability.
  • Mitigate and solve network availability risks.
  • Partner with peer networking teams on overall network design for feedback and improvements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Implement metrics to measure wireless availability and identify performance risks.
