Job description

The Senior Firmware Engineer will join NVIDIA's System Control Firmware team, focusing on developing and optimizing low-level C firmware for the Tegra SoC architecture. This role involves ensuring system stability while maximizing hardware efficiency for various applications, including autonomous vehicles and AI edge devices. The engineer will lead firmware projects from inception to productization and collaborate with global teams to refine engineering processes. This position offers the opportunity to influence industry standards and work on cutting-edge technology.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development, low-level C programming, and memory-mapped register access.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical problem-solving efforts in complex projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical experience or familiarity with contemporary software development involving AI agents or LLM-assisted workflows.
  • Solid grasp of SoC boot flows, interrupts, linker/build systems, and device tree-based configurations.
  • Direct experience managing low-level SoC infrastructure like clocks, resets, voltage rails, and power-gating behaviors.
  • Outstanding debugging skills and a meticulous approach to avoiding regressions in sensitive system behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Build, implement, and optimize low-level C firmware for the Boot and Power Management Processor across the entire Tegra SoC lifecycle.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to active product programs by diagnosing and debugging complex issues.
  • Lead system control firmware projects from inception through bring-up and productization.
  • Promote the ongoing refinement of software engineering processes and team workflows.
  • Work closely with hardware, software, and safety architecture groups to coordinate requirements and system-level interfaces.
  • Identify complex hardware/software boundary failures and develop thorough unit/integration tests.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
